keeping it together January 17, 2011 – Posted in: SYTYC

I think I really underestimated the level of time consumption the SYTYC competition would take! I’m trying to be really meticulous about my projects each week because I want to do well, and it’s been such a demand on me.

Chloe started crawling the week the competition started, so I spend my days keeping her out of everything, fishing stuff out of her mouth, breaking up fights over toys, and trying to maintain some sort of normalcy with cooking and cleaning and running errands. When Sofie got mobile, she didn’t touch things she wasn’t supposed to. But Chloe is in. to. everything, including Sofie’s treasured toys–which turns into screaming, tears, and catfights way more often than I expected. The hubs is still working crazy-long hours. He’s showing up at home between 8 and 9 every night and it’s just enough time for him to gulp down some dinner before helping me put the girls to bed. So the only time I have to work on my projects (other than 10 minutes here and there during the day) is at night. I’ve been burning my candle at both ends again trying to get things finished. I don’t know how everyone else is managing to create anything OTHER than competition projects, and I’m definitely very jealous of the blogging they’re doing!

But, I made it through another round! My placemats took a very respectable 4th place, and I’m proud of my sister for taking the win for the week!! Since I made our placemats, Sofie’s already learned “fork,” “spoon,” and “napkin.” So they really are functional for us! It always takes her a little longer to learn the Spanish words, but we’re getting there, too!

Head over this week and vote again! I love all the cozy projects, such a great theme!
