And I’m totally obsessed with embroidery now!

Below is my post from Frances Suzanne, explaining a little more about how I flipped the pattern.

Hello pattern flipping fans! I’m Melissa from Sew Like My Mom and I’m really excited to bring you my flip of the Boardwalk Hoodie & Henley!

I’ve always been such a fan of rompers! So when I saw the yoke on the Boardwalk, I knew immediately I wanted to make it into a romper.

I played around with the idea of making it knit, but ultimately decided to make it all cotton woven and chose this gorgeous lace for the yoke.

I loved my mint romper, but it was just a little too plain, so I added some embroidery to the leg. I’ve never embroidered anything before so I did a little Googling and took a leap of faith, but I’m WILD about the way it turned out!

To get the romper just the way I wanted I mashed the Boardwalk pattern with my Kudzu pattern, but I’m sure it would work with most romper styles. The only real pattern piece changes I did were to lengthen the rise on my pattern to accommodate a shorter yoke so it would still fit her through the torso.

I kept the yoke pieces in Ella’s size, but I lowered the necklines on the front and back. The pink buttons really popped against the lace.

I sewed the bottom to the yoke and cut the armholes using the curves from the Boardwalk pattern pieces. Then I finished the edges of the yoke with bias tape made from my mint fabric.

I made a snap crotch and sewed elastic to the bottom of the legs to gather them in. Ella says it’s super comfy and she begs me to wear it every day!

It took me just a few hours to create this beauty for my beauty. There were a few nervous moments, but I’m so so thrilled with the way it turned out! Such a sweet summer outfit all ready for the warm weather!
