Recently I shared my personal challenge this year to make a birthday gift for everyone in my family. I’m doing pretty well so far, too! And since we’re nearly to Mother’s Day, I wanted to share what I made my amazing Mom.

Swoon’s Scarf Neck Cardigan is perfect for my super-hip Mama. She loves this style so when I saw the pattern I knew it would be just the thing to make for her. Then I saw it’s a FREE pattern and I got giddy! It went together like a dream and I plan on making more for myself this Fall, once we’re done with the oppressive heat of summer.

I grabbed this gauzy knit from JoAnn’s because it screamed “MOM!” to me. She loves it, so I’m glad I found it! The cardi has princess seams down the front and in the back, so it was quite the challenge lining up the stripes! My Mom sews (obviously) so I knew she’d appreciate how hard and time consuming that part of construction was. All my stripe lining ate up my fabric, and I had less than recommended anyway, so I made the sleeves 3/4 and put a band around the bottom. The vertical stripes are the perfect compliment and she prefers the shorter sleeves, so yay!

This is my Mom’s first appearance on Sew Like My Mom and she was reluctant to let me take her picture. Isn’t she precious?! And you’d never believe me if I told you what birthday she just celebrated. But since I’m already blogging these photos she didn’t want me to take, I’ll spare that detail and save my hiney. I love you, Mama!
