I promised a giveaway when I reached 100 followers, and here we are!

I was so excited to get my SPECIAL OCCASION FASHIONS kit in the mail! I knew my oldest niece, Katie, would be the perfect person for me to play with the first time we tried it out. She’s only 7 (and the youngest recommended age is 9), but she plays with similar toys and fully grasped the concept. The next chance I got, I made the nearly 2 hour trek to my sisters house and Katie and I tore into the box!
We couldn’t believe how much stuff was in there!
While I oohed over the trims, Katie decided she was going to decorate the dress provided in the kit.
While that dress dried, we experimented with draping different fabrics and trims on the dress form.
Then it was almost bedtime, so she set up the project she wanted to start working on the next morning,
before we packed it all up in the bag provided and called it a night!
I love this awesome set! Like I said, I’m totally jealous it didn’t exist 20 years ago! My niece is absolutely loving it still, and is enjoying the process of learning sewing basics from my sister while creating dresses SHE designed.

Good for you! You are such a terrific auntie for getting together with your niece and opening up a whole new world of crafting for her! May you have many fun filled afternoons together for many years to come…. these young memories, after all will carry her through all her adult years and she will lovingly remember all the neat things you will have shown her. Keep up the great work inspiring the young ‘uns – they are our next generation and we have to keep their imagination and creativity alive instead of droning in front of video games!
