Olivia Dress Review October 31, 2013 – Posted in: Pattern, Sewing

I had the pleasure of sewing the Olivia Dress for Jessica from Craftiness is Not Optional this week. When signing up for the tour, I had the option of somewhere earlier in the month or Halloween and I decided to take the creative route and go for Halloween. I wanted to do something in the spirit of the day, but not necessarily deck her out in black and orange.

I really, really love this dress!! I used Ghastlies by Alexander Henry for the fabric because I adore the ghoulish print (that I got from my favorite etsy shop, Pink Door Fabrics). The pink is perfect to satisfy Sofia’s desire to always wear pink, but the dress itself doesn’t scream Halloween.

The bodice of the dress is one of my favorites. The 2 button placket and elbow length sleeves are adorable and Sofia was excited to be able to button herself into the dress after putting it on.

The dress went together like a dream. From start to finish it was fast, simple, and clean–my kind of sewing! There are options for a top or dress as well as different sleeve lengths, so the potentials here are endless. I’ve already cut out a dress for Chloe and I’m thinking Ella might need a new top…

It was a dream for me to try this pattern of Jessica’s. I’ve been a huge fan of her blog and her work for years. I converted a shirt tutorial of hers into a dress for Sofia’s first day of Preschool 2 years ago and have been peeking in on her ever since!
