Review: Classic A-Line Dress by The Cottage Mama January 6, 2014 – Posted in: Sewing
I’ve had the honor and pleasure of getting to know Lindsay Wilkes, the beautifully talented lady behind The Cottage Mama, over the past few months. I’m in constant awe of the things she’s able to do and her beautiful, impeccable work! It’s out of this world. So when she released her book–Sew Classes Clothes for Girls–I was eager to get my hands on it!
The book arrived and I admit, I was so excited! I thumbed through the pages, gushing over the gorgeous photography and the perfectly styled outfits. I quickly fell in love with the Classic A-Line dress and as soon as the dust settled from Christmas, I jumped on it.
This dress does not disappoint! The pattern directions say to fully line the dress, but instead I made facings. I loved the rick rack detailing on the collar and couldn’t resist adding some to my dress, too!
I also opted to leave the ruffle off and put in a blind hem, instead.
Sofia LOVES this dress! She wore it the rest of the day, even though it the middle of winter and cold, she wouldn’t take it off after our photoshoot. That’s a great sign, she’s usually begging me to take things off!
I really can’t rave about this pattern, or the book, enough! The pattern pieces are provided on a CD at he back of the book and the printing and assembling process was painless. The pieces went together beautifully. From print to final seam it only took me about 3 hours total to get this gorgeous, vintage-inspired dress.
You’ll want to scoop this one up for sure. Lindsay is amazing and oh so sweet and her talents are endless. Trust this face, do you think she could lie to you?!
**I did not receive anything for this review. I bought the book myself and provided the review on my own. All opinions are my own.

Beautiful! Such simple lines and it looks so clean with the blind hem. Love!
I’ll be following and I will blame you for my increase of dissatisfaction with having only a son… Kidding or don’t tell him anyways lol 😉
