Fawn Lily Review September 17, 2014 – Posted in: Reviews, Sewing

So I’m talking about the September Showcase at Frances Suzanne again today! This time, I get to be on the sewing end of the post.

I chose to try my hand at the Fawn Lily by Rock the Stitch for Willow & Co patterns. I loved the lines and design of the dress and was so excited to sew!

I didn’t check the size chart and made Chloe a 4. My kids are super skinny, especially through the chest, so she’s got some wiggle room in it, but that’s probably best for my kid obsessed with textures. The vintage length on her is perfection, though!

I love the cross over front and the shape the panels create. I chose to do the inverted pleat skirt to the dress and just loved the design with this fabric.

Normally I’m sewing last minute. But I loved the design of the dress so much, I made it way back in June for Chloe to wear to my cousin’s wedding! She was less than enthusiastic about letting me get pictures that day, though. The only semi-decent one I have is this group shot I snapped around 11pm after hair was destroyed and children were basically zombies. She actually looks happy!

But she dominated the dance floor (and photobombed everyone in the photobooth!) so there’s plenty of awesome pictures of her from the reception in the official wedding photos. 🙂

She’s actually worn it a bunch this summer, including our annual back to school tea with the ladies in the family. It’s super hard to tell by this picture, but I promise, she chose this dress to wear for the event! It’s definitely one of her favorites. And if you look reallllly closely in the pictures above, you can even see a stain I can’t get out of the bodice! I really think she’s worn this at least once a week since I made it!

The Fawn Lily is a big hit around here! I know she’ll outgrow this one soon and I’ll be making more to fill her closet. I had some trouble getting the sleeves sewn on this one, so I’m looking forward to trying the pattern for a second time. I didn’t “flip” anything about this one, but I’ve got some changes in mind for the next one!
