Mystery Fabric Ruffle Challenge for See Kate Sew August 29, 2013 – Posted in: Sewing
I am so excited to be part of the Mystery Fabric Ruffle Challenge for See Kate Sew!
When I got my fabric from Fashionable Fabrics a few weeks ago, I started brainstorming what ruffly creation I wanted to make. Chloe saw it sitting on my sewing table and pointed to it, asking me, “For me, Mama?” Well, it sure is now!
I don’t sew much for Chloe because she’s generally uninterested, but she’s loved this dress from the minute I started working on it. I made it up as I went along (so I’m sorry, there’s no tutorial), starting with the double ruffles on the straps.
I adored they way they looked with the contrast bias and fell in love with the idea of the deep v in the back.
When deciding on a bodice style to compliment my straps, a tuxedo look just seemed natural. Again, using my contrast fabric, I decided on little ruffles accented by gorgeous, deep pink flower buttons.
She adores it! All she wants to do is dance in circles, spinning and giggling.
I had an absolute BLAST with this challenge! Chloe got a precious new dress and I had a great time designing it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH to Kate for allowing me to participate, and to Fashionable Fabrics for providing the fantastic fabric! This is Pearl Bracelet in verbena by Lizzy House for Andover Fabrics. The contrast is from my stash and is So Happy Together Happy Stripes in Multi by Riley Blake Designs
