Oliver February 22, 2013 – Posted in: Sewing
I have a confession.
I kept a secret–a really, really big secret! And it’ll explain why I haven’t posted much in the last 6 months.
Meet my Oliver.
He was born February 8th at 1:38pm and weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20″ long, making him my biggest baby. Though Chloe was 7 pounds, 5.3 ounces and he was 7 pounds 5.5 ounces, so he just barely eeked by as my biggest! Darn that rounding.
After having 3 girls, a little boy is a completely different ball game!
While I was pregnant I had a really hard time imagining what it would be like to have a little boy. I knew girls so well! But he’s simply breathtaking and I’m totally in love.
I’m not the only one, though! Sofie has taken over a completely motherly role with him. She’s been this way about all her siblings, but she’s different this time. I don’t know if it’s her age (4.5) or her bond with a brother over her sisters, but she’s smitten.
Ella’s pretty crazy for him, too, though! At just 16.5 months apart, they’re my closest two in age and I think they’re going to be the best of friends. Ella spends her day bringing me his pacifier, blankets, diapers, throwing dirty diapers away, and loving on him every chance she gets. We thought she’d be jealous, but she’s so happy to have him!
My pregnancy was rough. I didn’t have any real complications, but I was exhausted all the time. Not only did I have 3 very little kids to care for, but I was just tired all.the.time. I’ve been either pregnant or nursing for five and a half years and my body is just plain worn out. I also developed migraines this time around and they were quite debilitating. So needless to say, it’s been easier with him on the outside than it was on the inside!
I took these pictures a week ago, but I’m just now having a chance to share them. He’s growing so fast and changing so much already! I don’t have any good pictures of all 4 of them together yet, but I wanted to share the best one I have. I took it on my phone on Valentine’s Day and I think they’re too precious!
Sofie (4.5), Ollie (1 week), Ella (16 months), and Chloe (2.5)
My hands and my heart are both overflowing, so bear with me as I get back into the blogging habit. Ollie and I spend a lot of cuddle time together on the couch at night and I’ve got plenty of sewing projects to share, so I hope to get some things up soon!

Congratulations! Four kids – you are one busy crafter! I made my girls (2 and 4 yo) both dresses in the same valentine’s fabric from JoAnn’s – following your pattern in fact! Enjoy your babymoon and just being a busy mom.

I am so feeling your pain. My oldest was 4.25 when I had number 4. Mine were roughly 17 months apart. I was nursing or pregnant that whole time. It was the way people looked at me when I went out in public that amused me. I think the word “crazy lady” was what they had in mind. What a beautiful family you have made.

I’m glad to know I’m not alone, Teri! My first 2 are 21 months apart, then 17.5 months, and finally 16.5. So they got closer in age the more I had! π I’ve been either pregnant or nursing since October 2007, so I get that part, too. My body is worn out! People say the dumbest things to me in public and I just smile and let them know how incredibly blessed I consider myself.

Vitamins! Particularly B vitamins help with that worn-out feeling…
What a beautiful family! Congratulations!

Congratulations!! I thought I was busy with 3 under 3 (closest ones are 366 days apart) The thought of 4 is terrifying to me, and I applaud your determination you to be a great Mommy-of-four and getting back into the swing of things with a blog. Don’t worry about posting too much- we’re all patient people. You need to get better acquainted with your new little person. As speaking as a Mom who grew up with only sisters and females cousins- boys are VERY different, and ALWAYS keep a face-cloth handy with diaper changes….. better make that a towel. π Congrats again, and enjoy your beautiful family!

Oh, how sweet! Congratulations on the newest addition to your lovely family!! My youngest child (of 3) was nearly 9lbs at birth so no way did I want to try for another one! Ha! Best of luck to you all. It looks like you have plenty of helping hands. Rest well and enjoy the time with them all as you embark on this new adventure.

Congratulations! I have a little Oliver who is almost 3, and he’s going to be a big brother for the first time right around his birthday. Little boys are so much fun, except that there aren’t as many cute things to make for them! I’m looking forward to more boy-friendly sewing projects on your blog in the future, too π
