Pattern Making May 13, 2013 – Posted in: Sewing
So, I’ve been doing a bit of sewing for my girls lately and I’ve been making the patterns up myself. I’m loving the way they’re coming out and want to share them with the world! It would take more than a simple tutorial so I’ve been kicking around the idea of making patterns for kids clothes to sell in my etsy store. Before I spent a bunch of time making them, I figured I’d gauge interest from you! So, would you be interested in either of these? And if so, would you be interested in testing sizes for me?
The first pattern is a ruffle romper. It comes over the shoulders and buttons on the front. This one on Chloe has covered buttons that are a little hard to see in the photos.
The second is this precious dress that can be made a thousand ways! It’s got contrasting bias tape and is a quick sew.
Sofie’s favorite feature is the pockets!
And a simple button closure is the perfect detail on the back.
So, are you interested?

Yes, both of those are great, simple dresses and something I am looking for but most patterns I find on blogs are messed up in one way ore another. So I don’t sew off of blogs anymore. I have two girls that wear a 5t and a 3t would try sewing them if need. Or I will be buying the dress Sophie is wearing when ready. Way to go mama of 4, great accomplishments you have made.

I adore the pocket dress…and my Chloe would love it too! She is a 7/8 if you need a tester in that size!
Niki May 13, 2013 - 19:48
Yes! The dress, especially!!!

I’m interested in patterns (including larger sizes – I have a 3T 2 yo and a 7/8 wearing 4 yo) for girls.

I would LOVE to test patterns! These are both gorgeous.. I especially love the dress 🙂 my daughter has just turned 2 and is around a size 18 month to 2 in size.I’ll be waiting to hear from you! 😉

I would be interested in testing the dress. It is so cute! I have tall, average build girls; ages 6 and 4 (will be 5 next month).
Liza May 13, 2013 - 21:27
I haven’t much time, and very little sewing experience, but I’d love to try these patterns!
Donna May 13, 2013 - 21:32
I would LOVE to test this pattern for you. My daughter is an average 7 years old but we Australians may not size the same, so whatever size her age would need.
This is a totally gorgeous pattern. It really would do well on etsy.

These are my favorite type of patterns: a quick & easy sew but with fantastic results. I especially like the dress with pockets and the contrasting bias tape, but would be happy to help you pattern test either option. My little darling wears a 2T. sorainima at gmail dot com

i’d love to test patterns, my girls are 7 and 8 (but often I find that I need to use patterns for 10y old as they are quite told, and those are hard to find) and my boy is 4

These are both ADORABLE. I love making little dresses and rompers, and would love to help you with pattern testing. I have plenty of cousins who love homemade gifts and are between 3-10!

I love both of these patterns sooo cute. I’d be more than happy to buy these from your etsy shop for my daughter (age 3). I’m a complete beginner so not sure I’d be the best to test the patterns. Keep us posted when you start selling them. Good luck

I would LOVE to pattern test for you! I have a 6 month old little girl…. I am a teacher and I’m about to get out of school. I have been dying to get sewing for her, this would give me the perfect opportunity! I have a friend with a 2 year old as well, I could whip one up for her!

I love the dress with the little pleat at the top- and the romper length is unique- love it. I have a 4T-sized daughter, a 2T niece, and size 6 niece, so I’d love to help test sizes:)
Mary May 15, 2013 - 17:03
Very cute! MY favorite is the dress.
I’d also be happy to test sizes. I’ve 3 daughters (my oldest is in a 7/8, but about to grow into a 10/12, 5, and 24mo.), and 3 nieces(sizes 4, 3 and 6mos.).

I’d love to make these two, or even one and try them on my nieces – I have 3 young ladies that can be used as guinea pigs 🙂 Sizes would probably be 2T, 4T and 6T. I live in the UK, and they in Poland, but I could make the clothes and send them for my lovely nieces to try if the sizing is OK. Good luck with your patterns, I’m sure you’ll have many customers for them 🙂

I love the dress and would also love to test it for you. I have a daughter that is size 6.
donna May 18, 2013 - 09:24
My granddaughter wears a size 4 and I would love to test the dress on her.
Rachel May 18, 2013 - 10:13
yes! I like both of those a lot! I’d probably be more likely to buy the romper as I have lots of dress patterns and could alter one i have to look like that.
Andrea May 23, 2013 - 12:51
I could test! I have two girls who are tall for their ages. One 10 year and the other 3
Mandy May 23, 2013 - 13:30
Beautiful! I love them both, but more so the romper! I would love to either test or buy the patterns. My daughter is a 2t/3t.

Would love to test either or both! Kinda new to sewing (past few years) so if you want to see results from somewhat of a beginners point of view, I’d be willing to give it my best. I don’t have any children of my own but I enjoy sewing for my nieces and nephews. 🙂 You have some great things going on here, keep up the hard work. I really enjoy your site, and have learned a lot. Thank you!

These are so darling! I would LOVE to test the patterns for you.

I’d love to test sizes of the dress or test the pattern/instructions if needed. That dress is adorable. I’d definitely make it.
Lindsay June 05, 2013 - 20:53
I’d happily volunteer to test patterns! I have a 6 year old daughter, wears size 6 (American sizing). Plus, have several friends with children ranging in sizes from 5 to 10. Boys and girls. I am self taught in the sewing arena and am comfortable around a sewing machine:-)
Hope you allow me to work with you, feel free to contact me at didzy@hotmail.com. Thanks!
P.s. beautiful blog!

I would love to test patterns! My daughters are 6 and 5, and range from a 4T to a 6 depending on the brand. That dress is fantastic – my girls absolutely love dresses and love pockets even more. I would definitely make that 🙂
Marguerite June 11, 2013 - 21:31
I’m a bit late for your pattern tester call, but that romper is cuter than anything the big three or the heirloom pattern people have out right now – let me know when it’s available for purchase and I’ll make it for my toddler and her multitude of girl cousins!
Erin June 11, 2013 - 21:48
I love both the outfits. I love a unique dress that is a quick sew. Little ones dont allow too much time for sewing! I would love to help test if you are still looking. I have a five year old girl. I always have to change patterns to a size 6 length so I assume she is a little tall. She is very girly but loves to play. I have a 3 year old boy if you decide to go that route at all! They both love when I make them something.
Victoria June 17, 2013 - 10:01
I would love to test them as well, my daughters are a size 4 and a size 7/8!! Ekk so adorable! Love your blog!!
Agata June 20, 2013 - 13:44
I love both items but the romper has really stolen my heart. I would be honored to test a romper pattern for you. My daughter is 4 years old. Greetings form Poland 🙂
