Flashback September 6, 2010 – Posted in: Sewing

I’ve been absent the past few days because my oldest friend came to visit. We met in Germany in 1986 and all these years later, we’re still getting together. Pretty spectacular for 2 Army Brats! I had a fantastic time reminiscing about the past and laughing about the present. I even got to go on a movie date to see a chick flick! Such a great weekend!

I also revisited my sewing past. I really fell in love with sewing while in college when I discovered once you master the basics of bags, you can make ANY bag. I spent years sewing them for gifts, friends, and especially Christmas. I made my diaper bag 2.5 years ago, and purses for my Mom and sister for their birthdays in March 2009, but nothing since. So when this Mom came to me and asked me to make a tote for her daughter, I jumped at the chance.

The only parameters she gave me were that she wanted a tote and a cosmetic bag, and she wanted to pack her daughter 4-7 days worth of clothes in the bag.

So I made a tote that’s 20 inches tall, 18 inches wide, and 6 inches deep!

Both bags have black “M”s appliqued on them for her daughter.

The tote has a pocket on the back between the handles, and 2 large pockets on the polka dot inside!

And has a zip top to keep diapers and loveys from falling out on the trip between home and Grandma’s house.

I hope she’s able to use it for many years to come!
